Built in 1908, War memorial stone stands upon the Pao Tai Hill in the park. It is built in the memory of the forth governor-general, Eryueyuan Tailuang who had great contribution to Taiwan. After Taiwan’s independence from Japan, the government and the city council were determined to eradicate anything related to Japan. Therefore, the statue was removed and replaced by the war memorial stone.
