I still can remember Lantern Festival was a nice day. At the evening, dad announced, “There is a lantern festival in Taichung Park; let’s go and watch it!”

We came to Taichung Park at night. Everywhere was the colorful, glistening lanterns. Two big lanterns were especially conspicuous. Lights glisten with letters like, “Eight gallop horses jump over the universe”, and “ Heaven horses descend with blessing.” The theme lantern was the Hu Xin Pavilion in laser light. There were other 9 big lanterns named separately as, “Fire tree silver flower and willow”, “Generation prosperity with noblemen”, “Add lights praying and celebrate reunion”, “Bell rings in Gang building and seize the time”. “Hit on the road”, “New York Statue of Liberty”, “Soaring economy”, “Carps jump over dragon gate” and “New City to compete with the south and the north.” Laser light along with water dancing show made the whole city bustling.

Many vendors were available. You can find aboriginals’ barbeque, kids’ toy, local cuisine and a lot more. Other interesting stuff included fluorescence light stick, cross with blood shining inside. Lights spark in the darkness. That’s terrific.

Companies or schools donated some lanterns. Tiger City Shopping Mall, Shin Kong MitsuKoshi Department Store, Sogo Department store and Taiwan Life Insurance also sponsored the Zhong Kon Rd Light Avenue.
