Without any official budget, it’s said that Taichung government along with private companies and religious organizations to sponsor this lantern display. Therefore, its scale couldn’t be compared with those lantern display shows in Kauhsiung or Taipei. However, Taichung government still has the merit for making good use of private resources. It would serve as a good example for cities which has financial concerns.

  “Nobleman on the horse’s back”. This year is Horse year. The design is a horse carrying a monkey on its back. It’s a symbol of the economically thriving Taiwan in the WTO. (Sponsored by Vedan Company)

Creativity behind ：eight lanterns were designed in the topic of Taiwan history, folk culture, lantern conventions, traditional art, the origin of Taichung, folk story, new city’s prospect, and family reunion. These topics are presented with the resources of local artists to show different traits of Taichung.

 Bell rings in Gang building and seize the time

Huge tree, silver flower and the willow
