Dakeng's citrus
is getting ripe. When you are walking on
Dakeng's Productive Road and taking a broad
view, you will see the fruitful citrus tree
hanging a lot of ripe citruses. Dakeng is
located on the northern Taichung City in
which all the mountains are suitable for
planting. The famous citrus area in central
Taiwan is from Dakeng to Xingse and Shihgang
of Taichung County. Its latitude is about
500 meters and the the temperature of the
mountains from day and night is markedly
different, so it seems to imply the citrus'
special taste of sour and sweet. The sweet
of the citrus in the mountains is from 10 to
11 degrees, which is considered to be the
excellence among citruses.
Dakeng's citrus
is well-known.
Because the mountains of Dakeng face the sun, there are an abundance of sunshine and
rainfall there. The citrus is big and juicy
and taste great! When it comes to the
harvesting season, many experienced people
come to the fruit farms to buy the citruses
. From mid November to the end of
the year is the most beautiful season in
Dakeng Scenic Area. Each citrus tree ties
yellow juicy citrus. The size and the quality of each citrus is
different, so the prize for one kilogram is
from twenty to thirty dollars. Dakeng's
farmers have been trying their best to plant
citrus in recent decade. The marketing
team's leader said that when he took over
the leader's position a decade ago, the area
for planting citrus was about 60 hectares.
During these years, the area has been
enlarged about 120 hectares and there are
about 100 members. Now, Dakeng's
fruit farmers run the business in a diverse
way; They offer some citrus trees for
visitors to enjoy picking. Each end of
November is the ripe period, so welcome
people to have a trip of picking citrus.
