Implement ¡§Integrated Teaching,¡¨ Explore ¡§Win-Win Learning¡¨

 

¡@¡@People always regard that special education students are different from normal class students from a traditional perspective. Therefore, they think that those special students need to be taught independently by means of special teaching approaches. However, the result of using special teaching approaches shows that special education students are isolated and normal class students look at them with special attitudes. Therefore, if we can let special education students join the social life of normal students, we believe that normal students can accept special students. At present, special classes of Yu Jen implement integrated teaching which not only lets students be able to join every school event but also arranges students to attend physical education, art, music, and life education courses of normal class. We can see special students attending flag-raising ceremony, school anniversary sporting event, and also graduation ceremony.

¡@¡@¡§Integrate completely¡¨ is an important issue in special education field at present. We need to consider and make efforts in how to integrate materials of normal and special education together. Special students need flexible teaching approaches instead of the approaches which are different and independent. Therefore, at present teaching approaches are to integrate courses of normal class by making use of the materials which are carefully edited and designed beautifully. In addition, these materials accompany with teaching music CD, online classroom, and games for teaching DVD designed for children to inspire learning interest by means of visual (textbook), audio (CD), physical (using computer). Making use of ¡§image teaching approach¡¨ guides students to connect what they learn and image together in order to memorize. In addition, we combine ¡§life education course¡¨ and ¡§holidays¡¨ of our special education center with image teaching approach to design short conversations in order to foster students¡¦ sensitivity to things around them and learn social communication skills to describe events. We hope that our students can make use of what they have learned in their life.
