|    It's the right time to go hiking! Today we
attended the “ Dakeng trash picking activity” held by Bureau of
Transportation of Taichung City Government and Hiking and Environmental
Association. The area of trash picking activity would be from Walking Trail
No.6 to Walking Trail No.9. We picked up the trash while we were hiking
up the trail. We checked in on time at 8 a.m. on October 1st. The
most trash we saw on the way were plastic bags and plastic bottles—they were
all from hikers. We better clean up our
environment as soon as possible to save our earth.

 | Tzu-Hsing's mom: | Let's start off quickly! |

                                |
 | Wei- Ling, Chen: | Eh! Wasn't that an elementary school? Wow!
It's Jyugong Elementary School, but why was it so messy? |
                                |
 | Wei- Ling's mom: | Well. That was Jyugong Elementary School. It
became so messy because of the 921 earthquake several years ago. The
school has moved to the other place. To preserve this relic, the
government kept it as an earthquake park. |
                                |
 | Tzu-Hsing, Huang: | Look! The playground cracked! |
                                |
 | Tzu-Hsing, Huang: | Eh! How come the government would leave this
elementary school for the memory instead of building it again? |
                                |
 | Tzu-Hsing's mom: | The government kept this school for historical evidence.
Furthermore,Jyugong Elementary School was on Chelongpu fault line, which was an
active fault line. If it were built again, then the disaster would happen
      again.  |

the chicken didn't keep an eye on it but let it go around? |
                                |
 | Tzu-Hsing's mom: | Oh! That was a wild chicken—a chicken was
raised in the mountain to let it go around. |
                                |
 | Wei- Ling's mom: | Let's stop to buy some bamboo shoots. |
                                |
 | Tzu-Hsing, Huang: | Wow! The bamboo shoots here were so big. |
                                |

 | Tzu-Hsing's mom: | We found that many organizations have paid
much attention on this “trash picking” activity. |
                                |
 | Wei- Ling, Chen: | Take a look quickly. That uncle is holding
      a long clip. |
                                | | Tzu-Hsing, Huang: | Yes! That's for picking the trash in the valley. |
                                |
 | Uncle: | Well! It's more convenient to pick the trash
in the valley with this tool! Do I need to do a demonstration? |
                                |
 | Wei- Ling's mom: | Please do it for
      us. Thank you. |
                                | | Tzu-Hsing's mom: | In order to decrease the trash, they really
      paid much attention. |
                                | | Wei- Ling's mom: | Wow! We finally
complete the hiking! This activity is very interesting! Children can
learn the importance of cleaning the environment so that we can't be a
rotten apple in the barrel. |
                                | | Tzu-Hsing's mom: | We can do
environmental protection while we are going for a stroll. It is good for
our health and we can work for public interests for the earth better. |
                                | | Wei- Ling, Chen: | I saw many people picking up lots of trash
while hiking, so people shouldn’t throw the trash carelessly. |
                                | | Tzu-Hsing, Huang: | We saw many people try their best to work for the
earth. I admired them a lot. Finally I picked up a big bag of trash—it
was my harvest. Attending this activity was very meaningful. |

                                | We

 |
                                |
 | Tzu-Hsing, Huang: | In this activity
many people slid down the mountain groove to pick up the trash without
hesitation. It was risky, so we could tell they must often go trash
picking in the mountains. It was really touching for their environmental
      protection. |
                                |
 | Wei- Ling, Chen : | Never throw the trash while hiking. |
                                |
 | Tzu-Hsing's mom: | There were many hiking specialists to attend
the trash picking.  They picked up the trash with great skill. One hand
was wearing a glove and the other was holding the trash bog. We could
tell they often went trash picking by their behavior. |
                                |
 | Wei- Ling's mom: | The earth is everyone's home. We have to
cherish it for our offspring. | Written by Tzu-Hsing, Huang |
